Frequently asked questions

Selling
Most small and mid-sized business sales take between 6 and 12 months from listing to closing. The timeline depends on the size and type of business, how well prepared the financial records are, the asking price, and how quickly the buyer can arrange financing. Good preparation is the single biggest factor in speeding things up.
We look at your financial statements and tax returns, normalize the earnings (adding back owner-specific and one-time expenses), and then compare against how similar businesses are valued in the market. Depending on the business, we may use a multiple of seller’s discretionary earnings (SDE) or EBITDA, an asset-based approach, or a combination.
Usually the last three years of financial statements and corporate tax returns, a current year-to-date statement, a list of equipment and assets, your lease agreement, and key contracts. Don’t worry if not everything is ready; we can help you organize it.
Not from us. Listings are marketed without revealing the business name or other identifying details, and every interested buyer must sign a non-disclosure agreement before receiving confidential information. You decide when and how to tell your team.
Buying
Many buyers put down 10% to 30% of the purchase price and finance the rest through a bank loan, a Canada Small Business Financing Program loan, vendor take-back financing, or a combination. We can introduce you to lenders and help you understand what you can realistically afford.
Sellers trust us to protect their business. A non-disclosure agreement ensures that sensitive information like financials, customer details and the business name is only shared with serious buyers and is not used against the seller.
Yes. We help you understand the financials, prepare questions for the seller, and coordinate with your lawyer and accountant so you know exactly what you are buying before you close.
Register as a buyer and tell us your criteria. Many businesses are sold confidentially without public advertising, so registered buyers often hear about suitable opportunities first.
Fees & Confidentiality
Your first consultation is free. For business sales, our fee is typically success-based, meaning it is paid when the sale closes, and is agreed in writing before we start. Valuations and consulting are quoted upfront based on the scope of work.
Absolutely. Confidentiality is at the core of everything we do. Information you share with us is only used to serve you and is never shared without your permission.
Yes. We are based in Mississauga and work with buyers and sellers across the Greater Toronto Area and throughout Ontario.
